The Security Seal Industry Association was formed in 1992, when a number of major manufacturers of tamper evident security seals believed there was a need to establish a workable standard for this type of product in the market places where they are used.
Most of the original membership are still part of the Association and new members have joined, expanding the diversity of expertise available.
Members have contributed to the development of a detailed working standard for tamper evident security seals (Document Reference SSIA-98-B-05), which includes barrier, semi-barrier, indicative and reusable security seals, and is available on this web site.
S.S.I.A. are constantly involved in the evolution of good working standards for tamper evident security seals, and maintain dialogue with ISO (relating to the proposed new ISO17712 standard) and The Security Seal Testing Authority (who test security seals for H.M. Revenue and Customs). We also monitor other industry issues, e.g. CTPAT compliance.
The Security Seal Industry Association is committed to maintaining and promoting high, workable standards for the design and application of tamper evident security seals. |
