Skipton Step into Action

Skipton Step into Action is a team of volunteers who give their time willingly to help and support vulnerable people in our community. Our volunteers provide services such as shopping, collecting prescriptions and running errands among many other things.

We are here to support those who are self-isolating, senior citizens and vulnerable people.

We can help with:

Collecting & delivering shopping & prescriptions
Walk & Talk
Local litter picking evenings
Nature based activities

Volunteers are in your area and are looking forward to assisting you.

Befriending Service

Skipton Step into Action is delighted to be able to offer a Befriending Service.  This builds upon the current service and reflects the relationships which have developed between clients and volunteers.  The Befriending Service is led by the needs of the client but can include shopping, collecting prescriptions, one to one help with things like shopping, technology, having a cup of tea and a chat (appropriately socially distanced), accompanied walks or just a phone call.

All volunteers providing this service have appropriate training and will be wearing an ID badge.

If you would like to take advantage of this service, please call: 01756 802 098 (Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 1:00pm)

Supported By

Skipton Step into Action is able to work with people and the community because of the generous support of different organisations and individuals – thank you.

SSIA Christmas Elves are back!

Last year, we provided Christmas presents for 119 children across Skipton, thanks to the generosity of individuals and businesses in our community.

It has yet again been a tough year for lots of families in our area. SSIA is hoping to put a bit of sparkle back into Christmas for those families who are struggling to make ends meet during these difficult times.

How does it work?

You can request a gift up to the value of £20 for any child living in Skipton and the surrounding villages, between the ages of 0 and 17.

These are then added to a gift list for people to buy and drop off with us. Walker Foster Solicitors, at the top of the High Street, have kindly offered to act as our drop-off point, and gifts can be left with them from Monday 29th November to Friday 10th December.

We aim to add to this gift with a variety of extras, including a selection box, a knitted hat or scarf, a toy or game, a soft toy, a book, and anything else we are given. All of the gifts are then wrapped by our team of volunteers, and delivered in good time for Christmas by Skipton Fire Service.

How to request a gift

To request a gift for your child or children, please go to:

You are welcome to request a gift for more than one child, but please fill in a separate form for each child, so there is no confusion about who has asked for what.
